2026 New York State Charitable Tax Credit for
Higher Education
Help our students and reap important tax benefits!
The New York State Charitable Tax Credit for Higher Education has again been renewed for the 2026-27 academic year. This program provides an 85% New York State tax credit, in addition to NYS and Federal tax deductions subject to NYS and IRS limitations, for contributions made to benefit SUNY colleges under certain conditions.
Eligible minimum gifts are $10,000 and maximum gifts are $100,000. Gifts are made through the SUNY Impact Foundation, which administers this tax credit program; donors designate their gift for Westchester Community College Foundation.
Due to Federal regulations, the New York State tax credit cannot be used for direct scholarship or tuition support for students. Contributions to other programs that can help students directly include the following:
Unrestricted Support
Gifts to the Fund for WCC give the Foundation the flexibility to meet critical student needs, as well as support the many important programs that assist students.
Emergency Aid
Gifts to this fund support unforeseen financial hardships that occur during the academic year and endanger continued enrollment. These can include one–time emergencies, housing insecurity, transportation support, and other unexpected hardships not remedied through financial aid, scholarships, or access to other social benefits. Food Pantry
Food insecurity is a growing issue, especially for students attending community college. The WCC Food pantry partners with Feeding Westchester and other community non-profits and provides a full range of nutrition (perishable and non-perishable), toiletry supplies, and diaper, formula, and other needs. Hot lunches are also provided once per week through our Culinary Management program. Thirty-eight percent of the center’s total enrollment are children of student parents. It is also a laboratory school for students in SUNY WCC’s Early Childhood, Human Services, and Dietetic Technology curricula.
