Go Native U at SUNY Westchester Community College is offered in collaboration with The Native Plant Center. Students learn from experienced instructors how to grow a beautiful and beneficial landscape using plants native to the Northeast. Home gardeners and industry professionals alike will gain an understanding of regional ecology and sustainable practices to guide them in gardening, landscape design, grounds management, and more.

A percentage of the tuition supports the work of The Native Plant Center.

About the instructors

Spring Landscape Conference

Each year in mid-March, The Native Plant Center hosts a conference on a native plant topic with engaging presentations that attract home gardeners and industry professionals. The event is open to the public and offers CEUs (continuing education units) to a variety of professional accrediting organizations. Information and registration can be found on our homepage several weeks before the event.

Garden Tours, Community Outreach

Engaging Students

The Native Plant Center teaches students of all ages, including the next generation of conservation leaders at Westchester Community College, through plant research, as a resource for STEM classes, as an advisor to the Environmental Club, and planting and harvesting fresh produce in the Community Garden.

Scholarship

The Native Plant Center each year awards a scholarship to either an Environmental Science or Environmental Studies student at Westchester Community College.
